David Reed Elliott
I have an eclectic background as an art therapist, artist and illustrator. I have worked in the NHS for over nine years and in the creative industry for over ten years before that, and have practiced art therapy in local authority Family and Children's Centres, primary and secondary mainstream and special schools and private practice. I also offer clinical supervision and talking therapy such as counselling, and have basic training in CBT methods.
Providing art therapy in a variety of settings, I use a person centred approach to help clients manage and process difficult experiences and behaviours. I have experience with children, adolescents and adults facing family and personal difficulties, life-limiting illness, complex emotional/behavioural challenges, Autistic Spectrum Disorders and have specialist experience within spinal-cord injury rehabilitation.
As an artist, I work in a range of media including acrylic, water colour and mixed media; some of the work can be seen on the 'Art' page above.
I am also involved with occasional workshops, art tuition, and retreats.
