David Reed Elliott
I am UK based and have an eclectic background as a psychological therapist, artist and illustrator. I have an MA in Art Therapy, and certificates in mindfulness, CBT and mentalization based therapy; I am a registered art psychotherapist with the Health Care Professions Council and British Association of Art Therapists.
I have worked in the NHS for over nine years and in the creative industry for over ten years before that. I practiced art therapy and counselling in local authority Family and Children's Centres, primary and secondary mainstream and special schools and private practice.
Working in a variety of settings, I use a person centred approach to help clients manage and process difficult experiences and behaviours. I have experience with children, adolescents and adults facing family and personal difficulties, life-limiting illness, complex emotional/behavioural challenges, Autistism and have specialist experience within spinal-cord injury rehabilitation.
As an artist, I work in a range of media including acrylic, water colour and mixed media; some of the work can be seen on the 'Art' page above.
I am also involved with workshops, art tuition, and retreats.
