David Reed Elliott, UK Art Therapist
I am UK based and have an eclectic background as a psychological therapist, artist and illustrator. I qualified in 2014 with an MA in Art Therapy from the University of Hertfordshire (UH), UK, and later with certificates in mindfulness, CBT and mentalization based therapy. I am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and a member of the British Association of Art Therapists (www.baat.org)
I worked in the NHS for over nine years and in the creative industry for over ten years before that. I have practiced art therapy and counselling in local authority Family and Children's Centres, primary and secondary mainstream and special schools and private practice. I am a bank-art therapist with the CNWL NHS Trust on the CaRe project and deliver workshops online with the international Sketchbook Skool. I maintain my own art practice and am undertaking an MA in Fine Art with Falmouth University from September 2022.
I use a person centred approach to help clients manage and process difficult experiences and behaviours and navigate create block and major life changes. I have experience with children, adolescents and adults facing family and personal difficulties, life-limiting illness, complex emotional/behavioural challenges, autism and have specialist experience within spinal-cord injury rehabilitation. I currently work with a range of schools in Oxfordshire.
